 "Message from the President"
October 26, 2016

It is with great sadness that I tell you Ron Foster, (President of DoSiDoers, & Treasurer for SEMCA), passed away this afternoon 10/25/2016.

I know he fought bravely and with a very strong, positive attitude. He knew he had a tough road ahead, but was determined to do everything he could to get through it.

Through SEMCA Ron became a trusted friend, and someone whom I relied on greatly.

His work for SEMCA was important, but more than that his friendship and support will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

Until next time
Lisa

"Message from the President"
October 18, 2016

As I am sure many of you have heard, SEMCA has had many changes in the past couple of months that greatly impact our organization. Our Vice President and Calendar Editor/Webmaster retired. Thankfully we were very fortunate to have three people step up and take on these roles.

We face that situation again, this time in the form of Secretary. SEMCA's Secretary has retired. Jean Stahl was a long time member of SEMCA and served as Secretary since its inception. One of her many responsibilities has been the running of the King & Queen Ball, our signature event for many years. Her wealth of knowledge and experience made her invaluable to the organization. When I came on board as a very new and inexperienced President it was Jean who supported and guided me. Regretfully...but respectfully I have accepted her resignation. Again SEMCA faces the difficult job of filling such big shoes.

E-board delegates Paul, Barbara and Susan Chase have also retired due to health reasons. The Chases have been on the board since I came on as Vice President, and have been with me these many years. I could always rely on them to take on any small task, and their help at our Harvest Ball and King & Queen Ball has been invaluable. Their stepping down leaves an even bigger hole to fill.

On a more positive note, at our meeting Tuesday Oct. 18, I was seeking someone to step up in a liaison capacity and take on some of the responsibilities that have been put aside since all of the recent changes. Thankfully Vice President Pat Anthony has taken on that role. She left the meeting armed with a list, ready to get to work. We are very fortunate and thankful to have her on board!

SEMCA is financially secure, but struggling in its Executive board, and needs its members' support now more than ever. I am reaching out to you, the delegates/members. We need your help to get the word out there. Please help me spread the word. Point someone to this website, talk it up at your meetings and dances. Encourage people to reach out to SEMCA.

Thank you in advance for your help in this, and for the many years of support. As always I can be reached at
lmb65@cox.net

Until next time
Lisa
